Elton Buchanan was born and raised on the north Island of New Zealand. His artistic career dates back to kindergarten where he recalls being frustrated with trying to draw with waxy crayons. He went on to spend many years painting and drawing, which lead to a career in tattoo.
Elton started his tattooing career in 1998 at Nine Lives Tattoo in Sea side Oregon USA during an extended tour of the U.S.
Elton and his wife Kellyrae Moved to Western Austraila where he continued his studies under the Legendary Rick Luder at Fremantles oldest Tattoo studio W.A. INK.
Seeking more knowledge Elton moved to eastern Australia and worked in Coffs Harbor at Coat of arms and wild at heart in Brisbane all the while extending his knowledge base and history of tattooing.
With a family on the way it was time to move back to New Zealand where Elton and Kellyrae opened Globus Tattoo in Rotorua in 2002.
He is proficient in a wide array of tattoo styles and mixes his knowledge base of traditional tattooing with modern designs.
He has been tattooing freehand Ta Moko since 2002 after studying under his grandfather Mr Bateup who learnt to carve traditional Whakairo in Rotorua in the 1930s before heading to europe to fight in world war 2.
Elton and Kellyrae call Globus tattoo their home and treat it as such. They have kept the studio an intimate two person shop as they believe it is a better experience for the clients. You will make your booking with Kellyrae and be tattooed by Elton.
